Age UK Hillingdon Falls Prevention Service

The service will aim to create awareness of falling and the practical steps to take in reducing the risk. An opportunity to provide information and advice for staying steady will be made at events and social groups. Home assessments will be carried out to establish the falls risk within the clients' homes. From the assessment, simple measures such as tidying away clutter, removing trip hazards, improving lighting or providing small adaptations will be suggested to reduce the clients’ risk of falls. Clients will then be given the opportunity to partake in a home exercise programme or group exercise classes. At the end of which clients will be signposted to other exercise- based activities. Also we will be offering the chance for clients to exchange their old slippers for new ones and to have mobility aid checks, replacing ferrules on sticks and walking frames.

For clients to be considered for the service they must meet the following criteria;
• Aged 65 years and above
• Live within the borough
